VOARC Trip to War Horse
VOARC Trip to War Horse at the Birmingham Hippodrome 26th October
On the 26th October at 5pm, five of us crammed into my 4×4 and took the trip to the Birmingham Hippodrome. Cherry kindly took the middle seat in the back, and was squeezed all the way. We made good time and found the car park. There was a panicky moment when we thought there were no spaces in the car park but eventually found lots of them in the basement.
We had a little difficulty finding the correct way out of the car park and getting to the theatre but we managed it. The theatre was packed and we tried to get drinks which was incredibly difficult to do, we just made our seats when the performance started. The rest of the club were next to us and we all were in a good mood!
Given all the fantastic reviews it was with real anticipation that we waited to see what the show would be like. We need not of worried it was amazing from start to finish. As reported the puppets become “real” all the mannerisms of horse behaviour were completely captured. The acting the story and effects were amazing and we were totally enchanted. Everything they said about how wonderful and stunning it was, was true.
It was raining hard when we left the theatre, and we had to queue for ages to leave the car park, we got out of Birmingham successfully and home swiftly, although poor Cherry has to wrestle with an ever tightening seat belt for most of the way home. We were tired but happy when we got back to our respective homes.
We had an amazing evening and if anyone has the opportunity to see it – do. You will be rewarded with a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks to Miesha for organising it for us. The excellent company made the whole evening great fun.
We understand it may be performing at Cardiff next year in the centenary of WWI – maybe we can all go again next year!
